Could it be IBS or something else?

I have had stomach pain for a year now. It is around my belly on. Sharp crampy pain. It started when I was 8 months pregnant with my son. I thought it was a gyn. issue and so did my Dr. I had exploratory surgery that found nothing. Then a hysterectomy as a last resort among other reasons. It is still going on. It usually starts in at 4 or 5 pm. My bowels are ok but my Dr. says it's IBS. Is that just something they say when they don't know? What else can I do? I see a GI Dr. in July. That is a long time to wait in pain.
