Do People Not Like the Name Samantha Because of the Nicknames Sam or Sammie?

I like Samantha a lot. It just always reminds me of Samantha from and The City who is well known for being very promiscuous. I don't think very many people, though, will make that comparison lol. It's a good name because it works well for a young girl as well as an adult woman, and there is nothing wrong with the nicknames either.
