Is James Parnell the right man to be Secretary of State for Work and Pensions?
Peter Hain has been forced to resign becuase of the row over donations made to his campaign fund, following his failed bid for Deputy leadership of the Labour Party. His failure to manage his own finances led to accusations that he could not be trusted to handle the multi-billion pound DWP. James Parnell has been given the position as his replacement. Yet Parnell's political career has been dogged by scandal: he was sued for libel when a councillor in 1996; he appeared in a faked photograph in September 2007; and he has consistently been one of the more expensive MP's. Is he the right man to handle the difficult job of looking after the Department of Work and Pensions? Or will there be another ministerial resignation due to more financial scandals?
