In a CRB check,do things only come up if you have been charged with the offence?What comes up and what doesn't?

All things recorded on your police record show up. Even spent convictions under the rehabilitation of offenders act, youth cautions etc. When I was up in court for a minor offence, the police tried to use spent convictions against me but were stopped rom doing so, however, by mentioning them it sows seeds of doubt.
