Vampire Academy: by Richele Mead question?

I just started reading the Richele Mead vampire series: Vampire academy and I'm started to feel immense anger toward the main character Rose, Lissa's guardian, the way she is always trying to control Lissa's actions when she is a headstrong twit who has broken the rules of her probation several times and her ridiculous attitude toward Christian is just a tad annoying. Does she change? Does she grow out of this fight everything, rebel against the simplest things attitude?
